Moxi Beach Bunny: Is It a Good First Quad Skate?
Be clear on one thing first: none of the skaters and coaches in our compilation recommends the Moxi Beach Bunny by name. It is on this site because beginners buy it in numbers. So instead of an endorsement, this page checks its published specs against what the coaches we compiled ask of a first quad skate. It meets the plate, wheel and toe-stop points, and misses two: the boot is vinyl, not leather, and the wheels are smaller than one instructor advises for adults.

Why it is on this site: what “trending” means here
Moxi Beach Bunny listings sat high in Amazon.com’s own best-seller ranking for outdoor roller skates when we checked on 24 October 2026. That is a measure of what buyers choose, not of quality. It is why the page exists; it is not why you should buy it.
How we evaluated it
We have not skated the Moxi Beach Bunny ourselves, and nobody tested it for this page. We took the criteria that the coaches and skaters in our buying-guide compilation give for a first quad skate, each with its source and date, and checked the published specs against them, one by one. Where a spec could not be confirmed, we say so below.
What people who skated it report
These are the reports we could find and read from people who say they actually skated it, with their limits. We did not use Amazon customer reviews, which Amazon does not allow sites to reproduce.
- Lizzy Sherman, contributing health writer, Yahoo Health, 16 Jan 2026. The article says its team tested the skates it lists, without giving a method or duration, and earns a commission on purchases. It names the Beach Bunny its budget pick: stiffer and more supportive at the ankle than the Moxi Lolly, padding less plush than the Sure-Grip Boardwalk Plus, and it needs breaking in. (source, read 24 Oct 2026)
- Queer Girl Straight Skates, YouTube channel of a quad skater (about 183,000 subscribers), video of 4 Aug 2020; the video description carries affiliate links and a Moxi discount code. Skated them outside and on a ramp, first with the stock wheels and then with harder ones. Very stiff at first, tight in the toe box and at the back of the heel, loosening after a couple of hours of skating; structured and supportive at the ankle; heavy, because of the metal plate; the 78A wheels are good over cracks outside and slow on a ramp. On size, the skate ran snugger than the other Moxi boots this skater wears, by about one size. Recommends it to beginners and for skateparks, and expects it to outlast cheaper skates. The specs against what coaches ask for
| What coaches ask of a first quad skate | Who says it | Moxi Beach Bunny |
|---|---|---|
| A firm, padded boot, ideally leather or suede | Lisa J (Boardwalk Skater, 2023); Dunbeezy, whose first check for a cheap skate is a leather boot (Dunbeezytv, 12 Aug 2024) | Partly. Dyed vinyl boot with a padded Dri-Lex lining and extra ankle padding (Amazon listing). Not leather, which is Dunbeezy’s first check |
| A metal plate (aluminium or magnesium), never plastic | Lisa J; Dunbeezy, second check | Meets it. Marvel die-cast aluminium plate with metal trucks |
| Soft wheels outdoors, harder wheels indoors | Lisa J; Dirty Deborah Harry (Dirty School of Skate, 21 Jun 2022); Caro Hernandez, a Moxi rider, in a video published by Moxi (7 Oct 2020) | Meets it for outdoors. 58 mm, 78A: soft, built for cushioning outside; slower and grippier on a rink floor |
| 62-65 mm wheels for an adult beginner | Kelly, instructor at Skate Base London (9 Sep 2024) | Misses it. 58 mm, under Kelly’s 62-65 mm |
| A height-adjustable toe stop rather than a fixed one | Dirty Deborah Harry; Dunbeezy, third check | Meets it. PowerDyne adjustable toe stop (Moxi product page, read 24 Oct 2026) |
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
It suits an adult who will mostly skate outside on paths and smooth streets and wants a quad that is ready to roll out of the box.
Look elsewhere if you will skate mostly on a rink floor (look for harder wheels), or you want a leather boot. If you have not chosen between quad and inline yet, start with quad vs inline: which to buy first.
Sizing
Moxi sells full sizes only, from 1 to 10, in medium width (Moxi product page, read 24 Oct 2026), and the Amazon listing says to check the size chart. If you are between sizes or have wide feet, read our best skates for wide feet page first.
What we could not check
- The Amazon listing describes the boot and plate but not the boot height or the toe-stop model; those come from Moxi’s own page.
- Moxi’s own page could not tell us a weight limit.

Questions
Is the Moxi Beach Bunny good for beginners?
It meets several points the quad coaches in our compilation give: an aluminium plate (Lisa J, Dunbeezy), soft 78A wheels for outdoors and an adjustable toe stop (Dirty Deborah Harry). It misses two: a vinyl rather than leather boot (Dunbeezy) and 58 mm wheels where Kelly at Skate Base London advises 62-65 mm. No pro skater we compiled recommends it by name.
Is the Beach Bunny an indoor or an outdoor skate?
Its 78A wheels are soft, which suits outdoor surfaces. Lisa J and Dirty Deborah Harry both say soft wheels outside and harder wheels indoors, so on a rink you would change the wheels.
What size Beach Bunny should I get?
Follow Moxi's size chart. Moxi sells full sizes only, 1 to 10, in medium width.
