Coming Off a Curb: Do Nothing

Stop skating and do nothing at all. Act as though the road simply continued. Two conditions and no others: knees slightly bent, back slightly forward. You arrive at the lower level naturally, because the drop does the work. Everything people add here - hopping, stiffening, leaning back to be safe - is what turns a non-event into a fall.
Coming off a curb has a technique, and the technique is to do nothing. Stop skating and act as though the road simply continued.
Two conditions, and there are no others: knees slightly bent, back slightly forward. Hold those and you arrive at the lower level naturally. The drop does the work.
Everything people add here is what turns a non-event into a fall — hopping it, stiffening the legs, or leaning back to feel safe. Leaning back is the worst of the three, because it puts your weight behind your wheels at the exact moment the ground disappears.
It is a strange instruction to trust, and it is the one that works: the less you intervene, the cleaner it goes.
