Three Floor Stretches Close an Inline Session

ICP-certified coach Asha Kirkby ends an inline skate with three stretches on the floor, in this order. Seated forward fold: legs out, a gentle lean over the thighs, kept light, or hug the knees. Half reclining side press: from the same L-sit, a small half press-up each side. Reclined twist: on your back, knees dropped to one side, head to the other, a few breaths, then switch.
A session has a beginning, one move in the middle, and an end. A certified coach ends an inline skate with three stretches on the floor, in this order.
One: seated forward fold. Sit with the legs out in front. Lean gently forward over the thighs and keep it light; a deep pull is not the aim. If nothing much happens, bend the knees and hug them instead.
Two: half reclining side press. From the same L-sit, a small half press-up to one side, then the other, to let the sides of the torso go.
Three: reclined twist. Lie on your back, let the bent knees drop to one side and turn the head the other way. A few slow breaths, then switch.
Five minutes, no kit, and the session is closed properly. The skates are already off; the feet and the back get the last word.
Technique from Asha Kirkby of Skatefresh, an instructor certified by the Inline Certification Program. She teaches inline skating, and that is the discipline this page is about.
